Welcome to a new school year! I love September - a new beginning, an atmosphere of hope. Over the last two years, I have tried to begin each school year with some type of reading incentive. And, you have risen to the challenge. Many of you completed the QR Code Challege and still many others completed Book Reviews - as a result, several students won Kindle and Kobo E-Readers. This year I am going to put an artistic spin on things. All you need to do is tear out pages from a discarded book (I have stacks in the library), and use the text as a backdrop for an original piece of art. If you can link your text backdrop to your art that is even better! Contest will close on December 14, 2013; winners will be announced before Christmas break. Prices are as follows: a $300 iCard for first place, a $200 iCard for second place, and a $100 iCard for third place. My goal is to fill an entire library wall with art made from discarded books, so get those creative juices flowing!

The Librarian
Hello! My name is Mrs. Laychuk. I have been married to my teacher-husband Derrick since August 5, 2001. We have two sons and a daughter - Christian, 20, Ethan, 10, and Rennie, 10. I work full-time as teacher librarian at NPSS in Northern BC. I love all things artsy - fashion, painting, home design, etc. I am also an avid reader and runner (only one 1/2 marathon to my name so far... number 2 is coming up in March 2017). Archives |
